All the Feels.
Things I Never Told You focuses on Payton Thatcher, one of the four Thatcher sisters. After losing her twin sister ten years earlier, Payton has struggled to find her place in the world and in her family. When a family engagement forces her to spend more time with Jillian and Joanna, the two sisters she was never very close with, Payton is forced to deal with the demons that have been haunting her since the death of her twin. This book is not for the faint of heart. I cried a lot in this one. There are SO MANY EMOTIONS! However, it's a a beautiful story of finding grace and growing up. Author Beth K Vogt did a phenomenal job weaving the pieces of this story together and I can't wait to read the next book in the Thatcher Sister series. I would definitely recommend this one, unless you don't like books that make you cry--then you might want to skip it.The second book on this week's docket is My Hope Next Door by Tammy L Gray. I'll be honest, I almost didn't check this one out because the cover and title felt a little cheesy to me, and I wasn't really looking for a cheesy read. However, the description hooked me, and I ended up liking it quite a bit.Katie Stone was THE bad girl of her hometown when she left years ago to get away from the weight of her mistakes. When she returns to the small town to help her sick parents, she can't seem to shake the bad choices she made prior to getting saved. She also can't shake her fascination with her parents' new neighbor, Asher Powell, which makes no sense since he's the exact opposite of her. He grew up as the golden-boy pastor's son, but a recent falling out with the church has left him angry and hurt. The two of them form an unlikely friendship as they try to navigate their rocky faith journeys, each hoping for a second chance at life.Like I said before, I had some reservations about this book going into it because I was judging the book by the cover, but I was pleasantly surprised. This book broke so many of expectations that I really enjoyed reading it. This book was also pretty heavy and emotional, but it had a lot of truth in it. I may have to look up other books by this author.Have you read anything by Beth K Vogt or Tammy L Gray? If you have, what was your favorite read? If not, maybe consider checking these books out.
