What’s Next…
It’s been almost two years since my last book, Learning at Jimmy’s, released.
Whenever people ask me if I’m working on a new book, my standard answer is “always” because I really am always thinking and dreaming about future stories. There’s at least a handful of projects that are in various stages of development, but there are two projects that I’m ready to tell y’all about.
The first is a continuation of my Patterson Downs novellas. The five novellas I released almost three years ago were so much fun to write and release. I’ve heard from a few people that I should write more, and I’m happy to tell you that I’ve started working on more Patterson Downs novellas. My hope when I started this collection was that Paige and Dakota would be characters friends I get to spend time with for years to come. As I dove back into writing at the end of last year/beginning of this year, these two sisters were the ones I wanted to visit first. I’ve made good progress on a new volume of novellas and hope to publish them by the end of this year!
The second project in the works is inspired by one of the most important places in my life story:
Camp.
If you ever went to church camp growing up, you know what an impact that experience can have on a person. As a teen, I had the pleasure of not only attending a few church camps, but also working at one in particular. When I signed up to work at a Bible camp for the summer, I thought I was just getting a summer job that would get me out of the house, but I found a life-changing group of friends and a place that became my home away from home.
Naturally, I’ve always wanted to capture that feeling in writing, so I sat down and started working on a story. This “Camp book” (as I like to refer to it) is actually the second book I ever wrote. The first draft poured out of me back in 2017 in the months between finishing and releasing Waiting at Jimmy’s, but at the time, it felt entirely too personal to share (I hear this is normal for authors). However, as time has passed, I’ve developed that draft more, made a lot of changes, and fallen even more in love with the characters.
This book doesn’t have a title. Nor do I have a release date figured out, but I’m shooting for summer 2025.
I can’t wait to share these two projects with y’all. Thank you again for being here and supporting me on this journey. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.
