Author Love!

Remember that time Karen Kingsbury tweeted me and I freaked out?!? Well this week something happened that blew that out of the water!I got to meet Robin Jones Gunn!!! If you don't know who that is, you probably don't like Christian chick-lit....or maybe you've just been reading the wrong kind of Christian chick-lit because she's great.I started reading her books when I was 14 (Christy Miller series and Sierra Jensen series)...and I loved them! I still do! As I grew up, she kept writing about the characters I love.Anyway, Robin was speaking at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, which is only about 30-40 minutes from me. I was so excited to get the chance to hear her speak. Plus, the event was free and open to the public (although I would have paid to hear her speak).I ended up running into some friends from school there, which was a huge plus. Robin had so many good thoughts to share about the dreams we have and the way God gives and fulfills dreams and his plans for our lives. I just loved everything she had to say! However, the best part was after because we stood in line for half an hour and got to meet her!!! Alli, Sam, and I introduced ourselves and she hugged us all! Then she looked at me and said, "You had such a peaceful look on your face the entire time, it was so encouraging...sometimes when I'm speaking, I can tell people don't care. So it was nice to see someone who was really listening and absorbing. I looked at you a lot while I spoke! Thank you for your encouragement!"My level of excitement was so high because I was meeting her and she was complimenting me that I could barely put words together. Although, I did manage to say thank you. I really wish I could have coffee with her and just talk because she seems like she would have so much wisdom to share.Robin Jones Gunn has long been one of my favorite authors and a very inspiring person, so it was amazing to get to meet her. It was the best day ever! I did lots of happy dances to get some of my excitement out (I wouldn't recommend doing this while driving, it's a bit difficult)!Seriously, if you haven't read her, go find a couple of her books. I grew up on her 'teen' books, but I would also highly recommend her other series: Glenbrooke series, Katie Weldon books, and Sisterchicks books.IMG_1628
